SUMMER EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
The following events have been organised for you, once again bringing Imaan to many corners of the country:
1. Picnic at Heaton Park, MANCHESTER, 26th May 2012
Saturday 26th May, meeting at the Heaton Park Metrolink station, just outside the gates of the park, at 1PM! Bring a dish and maybe something to sit on. Other items, e.g. frisbees, rackets, balls are more than welcome. Email tawseef@imaan.org.uk for more details, but otherwise, please be punctual, so that we’re not waiting around for people to turn up!
2. Women’s Event, London, 26th May 2012
The women’s meet for May will be as follows: Picnic at Greenwich Park and theMuseums at Night Festival : A night in space
Date-Saturday 26th May 13:00 (1:00pm)
Venue-Greenwich Park & Royal Observatory, Blackheath Avenue, Greenwich, SE108XJ
We will meet at Greenwich park, have a walk around, maybe a picnic depending on the weather. There is also a night at the museum festival at the royal greenwich museum which is by the park.
The astronomy centre has free admission, and also other paid tours at their planetarium for those who are interested.
Nearest stations to Greenwich park are Maze Hill station or Greenwich Station. Nearest DLR station to the Museum is Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich. This is approx. 18-20 minutes’ walk from the Royal Observatory and Planetarium. For more details, email qurra@imaan.org.uk
3. MANCHESTER Monthly Meeting at LGF, Thurs 7th June
The next monthly meeting will be on Thursday 7th June, 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
For the first hour, we’ll be discussing ‘Inter-faith and Inter-religious relationships’, then in the second hour, we’ll open up discussion to whatever people wish to talk about! The LGF is at 5 Richmond Street, Manchester, M1 – for any information re: directions, feel free to get in touch!
4. Lunch Event in Sheffield! – Sat 9th June
We’re hosting a lunch event in Sheffield on Saturday 9th June. The food (of which there will be LOADS) will be generously provided by a loving Imaan member, at a safe and private space, where we can relax, eat and chitchat. We’re meeting at 12.45pm at Sheffield Train Station, for lunch to be served at 2pm. For those interested, car shares and lifts and things are all available, email tawseef@imaan.org.uk to express interest at other events.
5. Lunch Fundraiser, London – Sat 30th June
In London, we’ll be hosting yet another lunch event on Saturday 30th June! We’ll be cooking and serving a 3 course Lunch for our members, for the purposes of fundraising for the Imaan Conference 2012. Places are limited to only 20 people, with a recommended donation of £10-£15. The lunch fundraiser will be held at Positive East, 159 Mile End Road, E1 4AQ. Please arrive punctually at 11.45pm for lunch to be served between 12pm and 1pm. The nearest tube stations are Stepney Green, Bethnal Green and Whitechapel. 6. Akbar.Umm @ Kraak – Manchester – Sat 13th July
Yes! Akbar.Umm, our fundraising club night is BACK. On Friday 13th July, we’ll be hosting a club night at the alternative venue of the Kraak Gallery in the Northern Quarter. Our Trustee and Superstar DJ, Qurra, (of Urban Desi and Club Kali fame) will be playing the BEST in bollywood, bhangra, arabic, urban and hip-hop BEATS and we’ll be selling treats for you to EAT. Doors open at 11pm, going on til late and the cost is £5 at the door, the proceeds of which, will go directly to funding the Imaan Conference in 2012.
